Offering a delightful menu that ranges from crispy fried delights to meticulously crafted sushi, this restaurant is a must-visit for both Japanese cuisine aficionados and newcomers alike.
The highlight of my visit was the Fried Brie Cheese served with a luscious fruit sauce—a unique fusion that marries Western cheese with Japanese finesse. The Mushroom Tempura and Sugar Sweet Tempura were both light and crispy, demonstrating the kitchen’s skill in frying techniques. The Seaweed French fries were an unexpected and addictively savory twist on a familiar favorite.
For sushi lovers, Nagomi doesn’t disappoint. The Pressed Sushi, featuring fresh Salmon and Shrimp, was masterfully prepared, with flavors so vibrant and fresh that they truly melted in my mouth. Customers have raved about the exceptional quality, with one diner noting, "The fish was incredibly fresh—it practically melted in my mouth," a testament to the dedication to quality and authenticity.
The heartwarming Miso Soup, available in both regular and fish variations, showcases the comforting simplicity of Japanese cuisine, perfect for a starter or a brief respite during your meal. Meanwhile, dishes like the rich Karaage and generous donabe add to the laid-back, cozy vibe, making it ideal for casual dining or a romantic night out.

The food here is absolutely, authentically, Japanese, I highly recommend it. Having spent more than 2/3 of my adult life travelling to Japan I have no reservation (pun) In in suggesting that If you have not tried Japanese food before and you’re in Adelaide looking for a place to go and dip your toe in so to speak, this is the place, no doubt.

Amazing food and super friendly staff! The karaage tastes just like real Japanese izakaya style, and the ramen is my fave. It’s rich but not too heavy The donabe (clay pot rice) was huge, perfect for sharing, and such good value at $35. Cozy vibe, perfect for a date or special night out

“I had sushi at Nagomi Japanese Kitchen, and the fish was incredibly fresh—it practically melted in my mouth. The salmon and tuna nigiri were especially outstanding. The tempura was perfectly crisp and light, without any greasiness. I never expected to find such authentic Japanese flavors in Adelaide.”

The sushi and sashimi boat was excellent and very generous, enough for 4 of us with a few sides. Delicious fresh sashimi some of the best I've had in the last two years. We will definitely come back again!

We were regular customers with the old team our first time with the new owners. Staff were excellent. The food we selected was ok. It appears the team is still settling in with changes apparent on the menu. Hard to compare when we had so many go to favourites on the previous menu that are no longer available. It was busy which is good. Probably will go back.

This was quite a good Japanese restaurant on Hutt Street. It was full on my visit, which was a Saturday. Booking is definitely required. The food quality was quite good. The food portion was a bit smaller than some other good Japanese restaurants. In particular, the karaage chicken, tempura shrimps and Sashimi Don were excellent. The beef steak and Unagi Don were good too but if their portion size could be bigger, it would definitely become even better. My biggest disappointment was the Sashimi and Sushi Boat. The quality of sashimi / sushi were average and nothing was high end but the portion size was quite small and the price was quite high. Overall it was still a good and authentic Japanese meal but ended up with a pricey bill but we were not too full. We went somewhere else to get desserts to fill up the gap.

Amazing dinner! The Teppan Wagyu was so delicious, as well as everything else we ordered. What really made it special was the service tonight. Really friendly, caring and personable and the atmosphere is very warm. Will definitely be coming back!

Visited at around 6:30pm. I was craving ramen but was told it was sold out even though the place had only been open for half an hour… Pork Belly was claimed to be slow-cooked for three days, the seasoning was quite good, but the lean meat was a bit dry. Grilled Mackerel was pretty tender, with juice and fat. Thumbs up! Tempura prawns were just average, with a rather thick batter. Miso Grilled Cod was pretty tender, but the overall saltiness overpowered the natural flavor of the cod. The side dishes were of average quality. Seafood sashimi Rice comes with little bit of various sashimi and some eel. The quality of the seafood was average, rather soft... It's a casual restaurant, and the server was chatting and laughing loudly with her friends which was a bit wierd. The taste was not too bad overall.
